Jady Babys was started by accident... lets just call it a happy accident. ☺️ 

The Jade Dionne story
I was born in Langley, BC and raised in Sarnia, ON. I currently live on the south shore of Nova Scotia, where my acadian grandfather was born. 
I am a single mom of 4 beautiful kids.
Since I was a wee girl, I have always loved fashion and design. I always told my mom that I wanted to be a "fashion girl" or "fashion model". I would make dresses out of bedding (never cutting or sewing of course, otherwise mom wouldn't have been happy). I started sewing around the age of 11, cutting up my old clothing to make new clothing, bags, and stuffed animals. I bought my own machine for $30 which I had for about 8 years. I took fashion and design for 2 years in highschool. I had a strong dislike for patterns. I loved being able to create unique things, and from then on drafted all my own designs. I did a few sewing projects for friends and made a prom dress from scratch for a girl on Kijiji<<--never again, so please don't ask ;)
As you can see, I have always had a natural desire to design and be creative. Now comes the story of how this all started...

The Jady Babys story
When I was expecting my first child I brought out the good ol' sewing machine. I started sewing dresses, bags, blankets and...shoes. I was gifted a pair oof baby socks when Cameron was still in my belly. The socks had a little plastic foot form in them which inspired me to use it as a mannequin to work with. Being a first time mom, with no babies in my life I had no idea fabric/soft sole shoes even existed. After posting all the things I had made for my baby to be to my personal facebook I was contacted by another mom in Oregon, US. She wanted to buy the boots (what is now called the original boot) for her baby! This was during the 2010 recession and money was very tight, so I jumped on the opportunity to make an income from home (it was $15 but anything helped). With $0 and 0 experince JadyBabys was built into what it is today and the rest is history. I started redesigning the original pattern and testing out materials. I learned the hard way that babies all vary in size, that they do not keep shoes on their feet, and that they wear through everything!

As fun as they are, I also learned through my research that soft soles are beneficial for new walkers and even experienced walkers. Many experts in this area suggest that soft soles allow the foots muscles and bones to move and grow freely, strengthening the feet, leading to less pain later in life. They also contribute to a more confident new walker, because the toddler can feel the ground beneath them. Kids (and even some adults) prefer to play in unrestricted footwear, they love to feel the ground beneath them even during play, which is why many children take their shoes off at the park. As a new mom I knew that I needed to continue to offer an alternative to the barefoot shoe market with a product that didn't use leather, so they could be machine washed and dried....well, because kids get dirty!

Over the period of 3 years I redesigned the pattern several times, and over the period of 4.5 years I finally felt like the product was complete in design and in durability of materials. Over the past 14 years I have gone on to design many more styles, and offer the sewing patterns for others to make their own.
Its been many years of hard work, long days, long nights, blood, sweat and tears, and thanks to all of you, I am still going many years later.

I truly hope that you come to love and appreciate our boots as much as our family has loved them. 🥰
